The Gospel
Exactly what it is the gospel? The word "gospel" means good news. It is simply the good news of Jesus Christ. The gospel is good news to the sinful man that through Jesus Christ you can be saved. It is a personal relationship with Jesus Christ that allows us to experience salvation through Jesus Christ...Let us explain.
1. Everyone is a sinner.
Yes, everyone! Even on our best day, we fall short of perfection. The problem with sin is that it separates us from God, and it brings a penalty that no man can change. Romans 3:23 says, "For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.” Romans 6:23 says, "For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."
2. Religion and good works cannot pay for your sin.
Religion and its systems may seem logical, but religion cannot bridge the gap created by our sin. Proverbs 14:12 says, "There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death." Ephesians 2:8-9 says, "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God: not of works, let any man should boast."
3. Jesus paid for your sins.
Jesus Christ willingly became the payment for your sins. It was the only option. The sinless Son of God was the only hope for sinful man. What great love God has for mankind! John 3:16 says, "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life." Romans 5:8 says, "But God commendeth His love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us."
4. Receive Jesus as your personal Savior.
Jesus said in John 14:6, "I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me." Jesus Christ is not a way — He is the way! There is no other means by which a person can be saved outside of a personal relationship with Jesus. Romans 10:9 says, "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved." Romans 10:13 says, "For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved."
You can make that decision today by praying something in your heart like this:
Dear God, I acknowledge my sin, and I confess that I cannot save myself. I believe that You are the Son of God and that You died and rose again for my sin. Right now, I receive You alone as my Savior and the way to eternal life. I ask You to forgive me of my sin, and I now trust You as my Savior. Amen.
